The police and state intelligence should not be political pawns,
stressed URF leader Patali Champika Ranawaka.
It is a big question that the CID and other investigating agencies have become toys of the subject minister and the government, he said.
With state intelligence told to spy on those against the government, its national security duties have been neglected, noted the MP.
He called for the independence of the police and other investigating agencies and the state intelligence.
Ranawaka was speaking at an event at St. Anthony’s Church to remember victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.
